Natural Gas Contacts

The administration of natural gas is handled by several different business units within Alberta Energy.

Resource Development provides analysis and policy recommendations for the responsible development of Alberta’s natural gas. The branch develops policy in consultation with other areas of the department, other departments, governments, and external stakeholders.

Economics and Markets support Government of Alberta natural gas related projects and policy decision-making by providing information, advice, and recommendations through economic and markets analysis, development of regulatory strategy, and energy industry intelligence; and advocates for Alberta’s policy interests in regulatory initiatives related to energy and market development.

Gas Royalty Operations is responsible for the timely and accurate assessment, levy, and collection of natural gas and by-product royalties on a monthly basis.

Gas Royalty Valuation and Markets is responsible for determining monthly reference prices and allowances used to value the Crown’s share of natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGLs).
